About Sheryl

Author, Certified Nutritionist, Metabolic Typing Advisor, Educator, and Mother


Sheryl Shenefelt, co-author of The Guide to Healthy Eating and The Guide to a Gluten-Free Diet, is a Certified Nutritionist and Metabolic Typing Advisor with a passion for studying and researching food and nutrition information. She is employed by the Center for Holistic Medicine in West Bloomfield, Michigan where she performs nutritional consulting and teaches classes. Sheryl co-authored The Guide to Healthy Eating and The Guide to a Gluten-Free Diet with Dr. Brownstein, the medical director of the center. 


As a nutritional consultant, Sheryl is dedicated to serving the nutritional, lifestyle and wellness needs of individuals and families. She works directly with clients, but also teaches workshops aimed at improving the nutritional status and overall health of participants. Her education includes certification from the American Health Science University. Her associations include the Weston A. Price Foundation, the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation, and the Birth Network. She is a past board member of Healthy Traditions Network, the Local Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation and is now serving on their advisory board.

Sheryl is married and the mother of a six-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son; the inspiration for her interest in health and nutrition, and her desire to eat properly and raise a healthy family. "From my experience as a nutritionist and as a wife and mother desiring a healthy family," Sheryl says. "I recognize the importance of carefully selecting the type of food we eat, knowing where our food comes from, and buying foods in their most natural state from local farmers whenever possible."
