| This Month's Step to Well Be-ing
Suggestion: Look at the foods you are eating and see what items contain gluten. Avoid gluten for 6 weeks and see if you feel any better.
Ideas for implementation
- See the NEW book by Dr. David Brownstein, M.D. and Sheryl Shenefelt, C.N. - The Guide to a Gluten-Free Diet
- Learn to read labels and what items can also be sources of gluten besides the common ones of wheat, rye and barley
- Call manufacturers to double check ingredients and processing techniques
- Make as many items at home as possible so you know what ingredients are going in
- Join a local support group to help with finding restaurants, resources, recipes and a peer group to share ideas/tips with
- Take enzymes to support gluten digestion as you transition away from gluten foods
- Learn about other items that may have gluten such as pharmaceuticals, body care products, candy, envelopes, play-do and more non-obvious items...
- Attend classes or workshops to help guide you in making choices and living a gluten-free lifestyle
