This Month's Step to Well Be-ing

Suggestion:  Replace the processed vegetable oils such as soy, corn, canola, etc. with virgin coconut oil.

Eating an abundance of processed vegetable oils can wreak havoc on the immune system and proper functioning of the body.  These oils have high Omega 6 content and create an imbalance of Omega 6's to Omega 3's in the body.  Virgin coconut oil, on the other hand, has many health supporting factors and supports healthy thyroid function, healthy immune function, and a balanced hormonal system.

Ideas for implementation

  • Replace all processed oils, shortening, margarine, etc
  • Use for baking of cookies, cakes, muffins and brownies!
  • Use in light frying of foods or to sauté vegetables
  • Spread on bread (try ½ butter and ½ coconut oil mixed together)
  • Take supplementally – 1-2 Tbsp in warm water before meals
  • Mix into soups
  • Make coconut milk smoothies (10 oz coconut milk yields about 3.5 oz coconut oil)
